Minox compact binoculars are now available in the original 8x24 BR and
10x25 BR models and also new waterproof 8x25 BR-W and 10x25 BR-W models.
The new waterproof range (pictured on the right) feature the same roof-prism
design, central focussing, and twist-up eyecups as the originals, but have enhanced optical performance and are fully waterproof and purged with Argon gas meaning
they can be safely immersed in water without fear of any leaking or internal fogging during rapid temperature change.
The originals, while being weather (rain)-proof and having a good all-round performance : price ratio, cannot be safely fully immersed in water so if you're
planning on using them in humid tropical climates or on board a boat in stormy
seas, take the waterproof pair just to be on the safe side!
In terms of optical performance, compact binoculars are an excellent light-
weight compromise if you just want something to pack in a ruck sack or for
casual general observation. For more prolonged use, we suggest a pair of full-
size binoculars with better optical performance. |
